Here you go. Now sporting a new transmission and Corvette ZR1 wheels, the Syclone is up and running. The body is still just as ugly, but heads into paint in Early June. I have all the cladding, but it’s going to be painted and installed by the body shop.

A Syclone, a classic Porsche 911, and a turbo Cobalt SS. Are you trying to break Oppo?

My next car will break Oppo

You have the wrong ZR1 wheels. You need these ZR1 wheels.

If it’s a Mustang, it’ll brake fences amd bones.

Wow so you found a brown diesel Miata wagon?

It better be an EK9 Honda Civic.

Dope. That steering wheel is neat!

That’s the car you decide breaks Oppo? That? It’s a Civic.

Thanks, it’s actually a real odd to hold. No 9 and 3 position, so you just hold the wheel itself.
But, it’s a pickup. Not like a sporty feel is necessary. It does the job just fine.

And?

Very nice. Any progress on her? Couple quick questions as the resident sy/ty obsessed:
1) What is the truck number (last four of the VIN)?
2) Where did you pick her up from, I can probably get the history on her fairly quickly.
3) Have you gone to syty.net and joined/registered? It’s the best resource for these trucks, and we’re a pretty close community.
4) If you haven’t already done so, the cladding on these trucks are a notorious pain in the ass to work with, and is VERY EXPENSIVE to replace. Make sure the bodyshop doing the work knows what they’re doing, these aren’t off the shelf parts.
5) What trans did you go with? A stock/generic 700r4 doesn’t play nice in these, as even the factory ones had internal changes to compensate for the AWD. A lot of guys swap to a built 4L60-E or a 4L80-E for peice of mind. RPM Transmission out of Indiana is basically the go-to for info and builds.
If you have any questions feel free to ask!

It’s getting painted right now, I’ll have it back next weekend.
I’ve got the VIN on the title somewhere. I’ve looked it up on the registration before. I’ll get it to you later.
Picked it up out of Rapid City, SD. Kid in the air force had it.
I haven’t joined SyTy, but I’ve used the forums plenty.
My paint guy does all the concours restoration cars we put together, so I trust them completely with the truck. He didn’t seem to have any hesitation when I asked about fixing some of the cladding. I bought one piece and I’m having it all painted flat/satin black to match the factory spec.
The trans is a built 700R4. I’ve done a couple pulls on it. Everything has been great since the replacement.

Awesome, I can’t wait to see her out of paint. If you need the reproduction wording and decals, contact Tom at SportMachines. They specialize in these trucks, and have everything you’d need for a proper restoration, and they’re the go to for hard to find and re-production parts. Also they make a killer tubular A-arm and coil over suspension set-up for these trucks. Completely changes the ride and drive. I included links to the syty registry, as well as SportMachines exterior page.

Very nice. I bought my cladding mounts from them.
